Dare to Dream

In January’s activity book Dare to Dream, we are exploring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. For this issue, we want to bring attention to the word dream and what this means for our whiz kids. Recently, it seems as if we have started seeing the dreams of our youth being wiped away. Senseless acts of violence, changes in the system, economic oppression and other challenges look to be attacking the goals, aspirations and hope of our youth. If you turn on the television, read your local news site, check social media, we see countless examples of troubling times.

jan_cover_webOur challenge to you is not to give up. Keep working with your whiz kid and encourage those thoughts and ideas. Continue to find ways to motivate and uplift so they can continue to flourish and grow. Use this Watoto Whiz community we are building as a way to connect with other parents as we all work to bring out the best in our young people. During these times as parents we must prepare our youth and remain faithful.  Dr. King stated, Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.  While none of us know what the future has in store rest assure Watoto Whiz is here to help you and your whiz kid not only dream big but turn those dreams into reality.
